The famous World Poker Championship has finally gone to Europe. Sponsored by the well known online casino and poker room, The Gaming Club, this extravagant championship will be held in Dublin, Ireland at the well known premier poker venue and casino club, the Merrion Club Casino, June 23rd - 27th.
The competition will have the top US players facing the best that Europe has to offer. US Players like Phil Hellmuth- the World Series Champion 9 times over, Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson, Howard Lederer and Phil Ivey will face players like Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliot- the 2004 British Open Champion, UK’s finest: the Hendon Mob and the number one European female player, Lucy Rokach.
The championship is also expecting a few celebrities to attend including Mimi Rogers. Mimi Rogers is well known in the US championship poker scene and is making her first European poker tournament appearance in Dublin.
The players will be competing for the largest prize in land-based Pot Limit Hold’em at a sum of 250,000€ and a total massive prize fund of over 730,000€ for a maximum of 128 players.
Belle Rock Gaming, part of the huge group of casinos, including the Gaming Club, owned by Carmen Media, is happy the tournament is finally being hosted in Europe. Belle Rock Gaming’s head of poker, Richard De Waal, stated that, “Having an event of this size and prestige in Europe is fantastic for poker and the rise of the game outside of the United States, and I think this is reflected by the quality of players coming from abroad for the event.”
On the same note, Tim Johnson, Chairman and CEO of Carmen Media is also delighted to be part of the Championship. Since online gambling has become so popular over the last few years, it is something new for an online casino like the Gaming Club to offer sponsorship for a World Poker Championship game. This gives their online customers a positive outlook on the Gaming Club.
Now those who can’t make it to the championship will be able to view it later on in the year. Sky Sports television will be airing a 10 part series that will be screened later in the year for everyone who missed the championship game.
Although little time is left for the big championship game, those who wish to sign up can do so by going to www.worldpokerchampionship.com and can register to apply for an available seat. Seating is currently being offered at 6,000€ with a required minimum deposit of 600€. The Gaming Club is also offering its customers limited seating availability for online registration.
